VOLUNTEER FACILITATOR

We’re looking for passionate, energetic, and creative facilitators to help make the 2026 camps unforgettable.

Ideal facilitators include:

Creatives and team players
Individuals passionate about co-operatives, youth development or agriculture
People who enjoy engaging, inspiring, and mentoring youth

As a volunteer facilitator, you will:

Share your experiences with the next generation of co-operative leaders
Build leadership, facilitation, and presentation skills
Strengthen teamwork and collaboration abilities
Experience personal and professional growth— all while having fun

Requirements:

Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC). Must provide current VSC emailed to campinfo@ufa.com prior to attending Facilitator training

First Aid with CPR Level C (asset or willingness to obtain)
Experience, expertise, and willingness to contribute, mentor, and prepare lesson plans


Position: Volunteer Camp Facilitator


Reports to: Camp Coordinator / Program Director

What You’ll Be Doing:

Safety and Compliance (Keeping Everyone Safe and Sound)

  • Complete a vulnerability check and provide references as part of the pre-camp process.
  • Follow all camp policies, procedures, and safety protocols to ensure camper well-being.

Training & Getting Ready for Camp (Be a Camp Expert!)

  • Attend mandatory pre-camp training to learn program expectations and responsibilities.
  • Become familiar with the camp curriculum, activities, and lesson plans focused on youth leadership, teamwork, co-operatives, and agriculture.

Program Delivery (Bring Learning and Fun to Life!)

  • Plan, prepare, and lead assigned lessons and activities with energy and creativity.
  • Complete and deliver all required lesson plans.
  • Engage campers in meaningful, hands-on learning experiences.
  • Actively participate in training and preparation sessions.
  • Get to know the staff, other volunteer facilitators, and be ready to collaborate and work together as a team.

Participant Engagement & Support (Be a Role Model!)

  • Create a supportive, respectful, and inclusive space for all campers.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating integrity, enthusiasm, and professionalism.
  • Monitor camper engagement and provide guidance, encouragement, and mentorship during sessions and activities.

Administrative Duties (Keep Things on Track!)

  • Complete required lesson plan documentation.
  • Report any incidents or concerns as required.
  • Provide feedback to help improve future camps and program activities.

What We’re Looking For:

Experience working with youth in leadership, educational, or recreational settings is an asset.
Interest or experience in youth development, leadership, agriculture, or co-operatives.
Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team and collaborate effectively with other facilitators and camp staff.
Reliable, prepared, and committed to camp responsibilities and schedules.
A positive, flexible attitude and willingness to support campers and fellow facilitators.
Comfort working in a remote, outdoor camp setting.

Camps and volunteer facilitator training are held at the Goldeye Lake Mountain Resort.
Sessions include: youth and safety supervision, co-operative education, leadership facilitation,
agriculture awareness, and emergency procedures.
